Founded in 2012, the Cambridge High School Band Program has developed a vibrant tradition of musical excellence and community engagement in Milton, Georgia. Supported by strong feeder programs at Hopewell and Northwestern Middle Schools, the program continues to build a culture of artistic achievement and student leadership in music.

An important aspect of the Cambridge Band culture is the Jazz Program, one of the most active and rapidly growing scholastic jazz programs in the state of Georgia. The program currently includes three big bands and six student jazz combos, providing students with a wide range of performance and educational opportunities within the jazz tradition.

The Cambridge High School Jazz Ensemble has earned recognition for its musical maturity, stylistic authenticity, and commitment to jazz education. The ensemble performs regularly throughout the region and has collaborated with distinguished guest artists including Joe Gransden, Jordan VanHemert, and renowned trumpet artist Vincent DiMartino.

The ensemble has participated in several prestigious jazz festivals, including the Essentially Ellington Regional Jazz Festivals in Cincinnati, Orlando, Newark, and North Carolina, as well as the JENerations Jazz Festival, which highlights the program’s dedication to authentic jazz performance and student learning.

In 2026, the Cambridge High School Jazz Ensemble was honored as a featured performing ensemble at the Georgia Music Educators Association In-Service Conference. That same year, Cambridge students represented 25% of the Georgia All-State Jazz Ensemble, reflecting the program’s growing impact on jazz education within the state.

A defining feature of the Cambridge Jazz Program is its commitment to contributing to the broader jazz community. For its GMEA conference performance, the ensemble commissioned a new work written specifically for the group, demonstrating a dedication to expanding the repertoire available to scholastic jazz ensembles and supporting the creation of new music.

As the program continues to grow, Cambridge Jazz remains focused on cultivating exceptional musicianship, honoring the traditions of jazz, and preparing students for future artistic and academic pursuits in music.
